About the Henkel Innovation Challenge

Vision 2050: Take a Henkel brand into the future!

The Henkel Innovation Challenge is an international business game starting September 1, 2009.

This year, these 12 countries will participate:

Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy,
Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Turkey

So take the challenge, form a 2-3 students and be the Business Development Manager of Henkel in 2050. Win a trip to Australia, Mexico or Japan and meet the CEO personally at the Henkel headquarters in Dusseldorf, Germany!!!

The game focuses on innovation and creativity as well as business know how. It focused on two business units; Cosmetics / Toiletries and Laundry & Home Care. With your team, you will act as the Henkel Business Development Manager, stating your innovative idea of how Henkel can satisfy the people's needs in 2050 in terms of personal care and laundry & home care with their brands. (e.g. imagine what a Persil detergent looks like in 2050. How could people's needs develop in terms of Schwarzkopf's products?) In this context, you may either focus on existing products or think of a new one. But remember: the basis for your innovation should always be an existing Henkel brand.

Your task is to fill in your vision of 2050 and your project idea in the Innovation Document. Additional material such as videos, pictures etc. is welcome but not necessary (if your written concepts are clear) to make it to the finals. Please do not forget to upload the CVs of each team member. Once you get through to and win the national final you qualify for the international final in Amsterdam where you will be the top representative of your country.

A selected Henkel top management team will support and assist your group as mentors, not only before the national finals but also in the preparatory phases during the international final.

The Rounds

How is the challenge played? We will have 3 rounds:

1st Round: Submission Phase Deadline: December 14, 2009

Every country will select the top teams from the 1st round and invite them for the national finals. These top teams will be supported before the finals by a mentor from Henkel's Cosmetics & Toiletries or Laundry & Home Care business units.
2nd Round: National Finals
The national finalists present their projects to a national Henkel top management jury, which will choose one winning team in each country that competes in the international final in Amsterdam.

3rd Round: International Final April 21 - 24, 2010 in Amsterdam
The 12 winning teams will meet in Amsterdam for a three-day final challenge. They will present their ideas and the concepts behind and will be evaluated according to their analytical, communication, business, and presentation skills by a Henkel top-level management jury. After proceeding to and competing in several further rounds during the final, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd winner team will be announced and awarded.
